Not all standard solutions can be covered by our ADDISTA system. This is partly because the solutions are very volatile or have very low shelf lives and must be mixed on the day of testing.
The following mixing instructions show one method for preparing the standard solution.

1. Stock solution 1 g/L phenol

1.0 g phenol ( e.g. HACH item no. 75814 = phenol 113 g // Merck item no. 100206 ) are dissolved in 1 litre of 0.01 N NaOH.

2. Standard solution

The stock solution is diluted with 0.01 N NaOH to the desired concentration.

For example: 2.5 mg/L phenol:

To produce a 2.5 mg/L standard, pipette 2.5 ml of the stock solution into a 1000-ml flask, fill up to the mark with 0.01 N NaOH, seal and mix.

The solution must be freshly prepared.
