Question
What is the expected life of the sample pump on a 5500sc Ammonia Monochloramine Analyzer?
Answer
On average, following the maintenance schedule located on page 4-5 of the 5500sc Ammonia/Monochloramine Maintenance and Troubleshooting Manual, the sample pump (Product # 9568100) should be replaced annually.

The actual life of the pump can vary depending on instrument age, sample type, and testing environment as well as other factors.  For example, in applications where the samples are 80 to 113 °F, the pump life may be significantly shorter.

The pump may need to be replaced if the following issues are noted:
  • The sample tube does not drain more than 50% of the sample to the reservoir
  • The reservoir is slow to fill
