How is an RFID calibration performed on a TU5300/TU5400 turbidimeter?
Summary
TU5300/TU5400 RFID calibration procedure is dependent on the settings in the instrument. There are 4 different possibilities. The detailed process steps are described below.
  1. 1-point calibration with the 20 NTU.
  2. 1-point calibration with the 20 NTU with verification after the calibration
  3. 2-point calibration with the 20 NTU and 600 NTU.
  4. 2-point calibration with the 20 NTU and 600 NTU with verification after the calibration
 
NOTE: Even if the MENU GUIDED calibration is enabled in the settings, the controller will not show any guidance during the RFID calibration. The user interface during the RFID calibration is indicated by the LED and the interaction is performed by the button on the TU5300/TU5400 instrument.
 
Answer

-Stablcal calibration set with RFID (Product # LZY835) which includes 10 NTU, 20 NTU, and 600 NTU

Before you start:
-Please note which of the CAL CURVE settings is used (listed in section 6.1 of the full users manual)
-CAL CURVE: must be set to StablCal
a)
StablCal 0-40 NTU (or 0-40 FNU), 1-point calibration
b)
StablCal 0-700 NTU (or 0-1000 FNU), 2-point calibration

-Please note the VER AFTER CAL setting (listed in section 6.1 of the full users manual)
-VER AFTER CAL

-Please define the verification standard value.
-Define STD VAL.
 
A) Calibrate with StablCal vials with RFID,
CAL CURVE: 0-40 NTU (or 0-40 FNU), VER AFTER CAL: OFF
  1. Invert the 20 NTU StablCal vial for 2 to 3 minutes. Refer to the documentation supplied with the StablCal vials.
  2. Clean and dry the vial with a no-lint cloth.
  3. Put the vial in front of the RFID module. The instrument beeps and the status indicator light quickly flashes blue. The instrument records the value, the lot number, the expiration date and the Certificate of Analysis information from the RFID vial to the data log.
  4. Remove the process head (or the automatic cleaning module).
  5. Put the 20 NTU StablCal vial in the vial compartment.
  6. Install the calibration lid. Make sure that the calibration lid is in the closed position.
  7. Push the button on the front of the instrument.
  8. The status indicator light slowly flashes blue during the measurement. This can take 60-120 seconds.
  9. When the status indicator light flashes green, remove the calibration lid.
  10. Remove the 20 NTU StablCal vial.
  11. Install the process head (or automatic cleaning module).
  12. Push the button on the front of the instrument to accept the calibration value. The light should now be a solid green indicating the end of the calibration.
  13. Check calibration data in the menu.
B) Calibrate with StablCal vials with RFID,
CAL CURVE: 0-40 NTU (or 0-40 FNU), VER AFTER CAL: ON
  1. Invert the 20 NTU StablCal vial for 2 to 3 minutes. Refer to the documentation supplied with the StablCal vials.
  2. Clean and dry the vial with a no-lint cloth.
  3. Put the vial in front of the RFID module. The instrument beeps and the status indicator light quickly flashes blue. The instrument records the value, the lot number, the expiration date and the Certificate of Analysis information from the RFID vial to the data log.
  4. Remove the process head (or the automatic cleaning module).
  5. Put the 20 NTU StablCal vial in the vial compartment.
  6. Install the calibration lid. Make sure that the calibration lid is in the closed position.
  7. Push the button on the front of the instrument.
  8. The status indicator light slowly flashes blue during the measurement. This can take 60-120 seconds.
  9. After that the status indicator light is a solid blue.
  10. Remove the calibration lid.
  11. Remove the 20 NTU StablCal vial.
  12. Put the verification vial in fromt of the RFID module.  The instrument beeps and the status indicator light quickly flashes blue.
  13. Put the verification vial (e.g. 10 NTU) in the vial compartment.
  14. Install the calibration lid. Make sure that the calibration lid is in the closed position.
  15. Push the button on the front of the instrument.
  16. The status indicator light slowly flashes blue during the measurement. This can take 15-20 seconds.
  17. When the status indicator light flashes green, remove the calibration lid.
  18. Remove the verification vial.
  19. Install the process head (or automatic cleaning module).
  20. Push the button on the front of the instrument to accept the calibration value. The light should now be a solid green indicating the end of the calibration.
  21. Check calibration data in the menu.
C) Calibrate with StablCal vials with RFID,
CAL CURVE: 0-700 NTU (or 0-1000 FNU), VER AFTER CAL: OFF
  1. Invert the 20 NTU and the 600 NTU StablCal vials for 2 to 3 minutes. Refer to the documentation supplied with the StablCal vials.
  2. Clean and dry the StablCal vials with a no-lint cloth.
  3. Put the 20 NTU StablCal vial in front of the RFID module. The instrument beeps and the status indicator light quickly flashes blue. The instrument records the value, the lot number, the expiration date and the Certificate of Analysis information from the RFID vial to the data log.
  4. Remove the process head (or the automatic cleaning module).
  5. Put the 20 NTU StablCal vial in the vial compartment.
  6. Install the calibration lid. Make sure that the calibration lid is in the closed position.

  12. Put the 600 NTU StablCal vial in the vial compartment.
  13. Install the calibration lid. Make sure that the calibration lid is in the closed position.
  14. Push the button on the front of the instrument.
  15. The status indicator light slowly flashes blue during the measurement. This can take 60-120 seconds.
  16. When the status indicator light flashes green, remove the calibration lid.
  17. Remove the 600 NTU vial.
  18. Install the process head (or automatic cleaning module).
  19. Push the button on the front of the instrument to accept the calibration value. The light should now be a solid green indicating the end of the calibration.
  20. Check calibration data in the menu.
D) Calibrate with StablCal vials with RFID,
CAL CURVE: 0-700 NTU (or 0-1000 FNU), VER AFTER CAL: ON
  1. Invert the 20 NTU and the 600 NTU StablCal vials for 2 to 3 minutes. Refer to the documentation supplied with the StablCal vials.
  2. Clean and dry the StablCal vials with a no-lint cloth.
  3. Put the 20 NTU StablCal vial in front of the RFID module. The instrument beeps and the status indicator light quickly flashes blue. The instrument records the value, the lot number, the expiration date and the Certificate of Analysis information from the RFID vial to the data log.
  4. Remove the process head (or the automatic cleaning module).
  5. Put the 20 NTU StablCal vial in the vial compartment.
  6. Install the calibration lid. Make sure that the calibration lid is in the closed position.

  9. When the status indicator light tuns solid blue, remove the calibration lid.
  10. Remove the 20 NTU StablCal vial.
  11. Put the 600 NTU vial in front of the RFID module. The instrument beeps and the status indicator light quickly flashes blue. The instrument records the value, the lot number, the expiration date and the Certificate of Analysis information from the RFID vial to the data log.
  12. Put the 600 NTU StablCal vial in the vial compartment.
  13. Install the calibration lid. Make sure that the calibration lid is in the closed position.
  14. Push the button on the front of the instrument.
  15. The status indicator light slowly flashes blue during the measurement. This can take 60-120 seconds.
  16. When the status indicator light is solid blue, remove the calibration lid.
  17. Remove the 600 NTU vial.
  18. Put the verification vial in front of the RFID module.  The instrument beeps and the status indicator light quickly flashes blue.
  19. Put the verification vial (e.g. 10 NTU) in the vial compartment.
  20. Install the calibration lid. Make sure that the calibration lid is in the closed position.
  21. Push the button on the front of the instrument.
  22. The status indicator light slowly flashes blue during the measurement. This can take 15-20 seconds.
  23. When the status indicator light flashes green, remove the calibration lid.
  24. Remove the verification vial.
  25. Install the process head (or automatic cleaning module).
  26. Push the button on the front of the instrument to accept the calibration value. The light should now be a solid green indicating the end of the calibration.
  27. Check calibration data in the menu.
