Question
What are the conversion factors for converting from DEHA to a Different Oxygen Scavengers?
Summary
Conversion factors for converting results from a Oxygen Scavenger test.
Answer

The test for Oxygen Scavengers using either Method 8140 or test kit Model OS-1 (Product # 2349500) has results expressed in mg/L DEHA (N,N-Diethylhydrooxylamine) even though this test is applicable to all other Oxygen Scavengers. (More information about the chemistry of this method can be found in this document: Oxygen Scavengers for Water)

The results can be converted to other Oxygen scavengers using a conversion factor. The conversion factor for other common Oxygen scavengers are listed below:

Erythorbic Acid (Iso-ascorbic Acid) - 3.5

Hydroquinone - 2.5

Methylethylketoxime (MEKO) - 4.1

Carbohydrazide - 1.3
