Question
Is the pretreatment procedure for Oxidized Manganese interference in DPD Chlorine methods from Standard Methods?
Summary
Standard Methods reference for pretreatment procedure.
Answer
The DPD methods for Free and Total Chlorine specify that they are adapted from Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater (SM) 4500-CL G for the measurement procedure, but it is unclear if that includes the pretreatment procedure for Oxidized Manganese which is outlined in the interference sections of these methods.

The interference section 4500-CL G.1b references A.3 and F.1d but does not specifically outline this pretreatment procedure. However, 4500-CL F.1d does, and is where the pretreatment with Potassium Iodide and Sodium Arsenite is from.
