Question
What can be considered if a Lachat FIA valve fitting does not hold tubing?
Summary
Using Lachat valve fittings
Answer
The Lachat valve Fitting, 1/16 x 1 PEEK (Product # 85245) includes a plastic tip at the end. On initial use, the fitting needs to be tightened onto the tubing with sufficient force to shape the tip to grip the tubing. This is done by inserting the tubing until flush with the end of the tip and then tightening within one of the valve ports.

If the fittings are frequently removed (for example when changing manifolds or sample loops) it may be helpful to leave the fittings on the tubing. If the tubing is reused (pulled from the fitting, then reinserted or used with another piece of tubing) multiple times, the plastic tip will lose its ability to grip the tubing with sufficient strength. This is especially true when switching between different sizes of tubing.

If the fitting does not seem to hold, or leaks it is recommended to replace that fitting.

What is the part number for the Lachat FIA injection valve fitting?
