What is the proper procedure for changing the internal memory batteries in the Sigma 910 flow meter?

Answer
The memory battery pack is attached to the CPU board of the Sigma 910.  The entire assembly is removed as one piece by removing the upper end cap on the meter.
Please remember that qualified technician should be the only one to do maintenance on the Sigma 910 Flow Meter. Also, remember that all safety precautions should be taken by the technician when doing maintenance on the equipment.
  1. Remember to download the data before you remove or replace the memory batteries. The data will all be lost when the batteries are remove
  2. Remove the main battery from the meter. Proper direction for this task are in the Knowledge Base Article for Sigma 910 Battery Replacement.
  3. To replace the memory batteries, you will need to remove the upper end cap of the Sigma 910.

  5. Once the upper end cap is removed, release the velcro retaining strap on the battery pack. 
  6. Remove the old batteries and insert the new C cell batteries.  Note: Only new name brand alkaline batteries (ex. Energizer, Duracell) should be used.
  7. Refasten the Velcro retaining strap. 
  8. Check the desiccant cartridge and if necessary replace with new desiccant.
  9. Reconnect the battery to the CPU board.
  10. Align the upper end cap so that the pin holes in the cap align with the pin grooves in the meter case.    
  11. Push down firmly on the end cap until it fully seats inside the meter case.
  12. Insert the 4 pins flush with the outside of the pin grooves.  Pressing down while inserting the pins may be necessary.
  13. Wrap electrical tape around the outside of the meter to cover the pins.  2-3 layers of tape should be used to ensure the tape will adhere to itself.
  14. Replace the 6v lantern battery.  Proper direction for this task are in the Knowledge Base Article for "Sigma 910 Battery Replacement".
Note:  All programming parameters will have reset to default values so reprogramming of the flow meter before re-deployment will be necessary.
