Question
What type of tubing is used for Orbisphere dissolved oxygen equipment?
Summary
Tubing recommendations for Orbisphere dissolved oxygen measurements.
Answer
Low oxygen permeable tubing is required for accurate oxygen measurements.

Orbisphere equipment uses either 316 Stainless Steel, Polyamide 12, Polyurethane, Tygon, & FEP-Teflon.

The Polyurethane material used for the tubing has been selected due to its very low Oxygen permeation rate (one of the smallest among polymers). At the recommended flow rate, no noticeable O2 contamination should be visible (at least not measurable with the Orbisphere equipment). If a change in O2 is observed when the flow rate is modified, this would mean a leak on a connector.

The Polyamide 12 tubing performs the best in testing.
