Water in Oil test kit techniques
Answer
There are several techniques that are helpful when using the Water in Oil Test Kit:

-Before placing the reagent vial in the assembly stand, shake the vial well to coat the inside walls.
-Make sure the lift tube (0-1% scale) is secure in the column cap; it should not be loose.
-Make sure your sample is well mixed so that the water does not separate from the oil.
-The water in the sample will react with the calcium hydride and form hydrogen gas, which displaces the water in the column. Allow the reaction to continue until no more bubbling can be observed in the reaction vial. This normally takes about 5 minutes.
