Question
Can the TL2300 or TL2350 turbidimeters be used to meet International Organization for Standardization (ISO) specifications?
Summary
TL2300 and TL2350 and ISO specifications.
Answer
The TL2300 and TL2350 turbidimeters were designed to comply with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) regulations.

However, if the USEPA filter assembly is removed and the 860-nm interference filter assembly (Product # 1999900) is used instead, the instrument light source will operate at a wavelength that meets ISO 7027 specifications.

That being said, the instruments will still not report in FNU units which is the unit reported under ISO regulations. For this reason, it is advisable to consult with a local regulator. This should not significantly impact results for samples under 40 NTU since the conversion between NTU (using the 860-nm filter) and FNU is one to one. However, above 40 NTU, the instrument will use a computation algorithm that will void the relationship between NTU and FNU.

If a customer wishes to meet ISO specifications, it is recommended they purchase the TL2310 or TL2360 turbidimeters.
