Question
Will the Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon (TPH) method 10050 work well with samples that have a sheen?
Summary
TPH testing on samples that have a sheen.
Answer
TPH method 10050 will likely not work well if there is a sheen in the sample. The sheen can coat out on the plastic in the cuvette and block the interaction of the compound and enzyme with the antibodies attached to the cuvette surface. It is still possible the method will work on some samples that have a sheen, but in most cases it won't work well.
