Is it normal for the DRB200 to overshoot the set temperature?
Temperature overshoot on a DRB200.
It is normal for the DRB200 to overshoot the temperature set into the instrument. When this occurs, the temperature will go back down to the setpoint; the temperature should not increase to more than 5° or so over the setpoint. The temperature overshoot is a way to accommodate the large temperature drop that occurs when the block is loaded with cold vials. The cold vials take a lot of energy to accelerate their temperature up to 150C. The DRB200 beeps when it first reaches the set temperature, prior to overshooting it. The temperature overshoot is not displayed.
