Question
Is there a problem if the Modified Colitag sample bottles have a liquid inside instead of the sodium thiosulfate tablet?
Summary
Modified Colitag Sample Bottles contain a liquid instead of the usual sodium thiosulfate tablet.
Answer
The Hach Modified Colitag Sterile 120 mL Sample Bottles, Shrink-banded, Polystyrene (Product # 8888006) contain solid sodium thiosulfate. Sodium thiosulfate has a low melting point and can liquify (either in storage or in transit) if the temperature is warm. The efficacy of the sodium thiosulfate is not affected by melting, and will still be able to quench around 10 times the required amount of Chlorine.
