How can I minimize CL17 waste?
Minimization of CL17 waste that needs to be collected.
How to minimize CL17 waste:
Given a CL17 flow rate of 300 mL/minute you get 432 liters/day of flow or 115 gal/day.
The sample line is shut for 2 of the 2.5 min.    So only 20% of the flow (115 gal/day*20%= 23 gal/day  of waste )  travels through the colorimeter and touches the  N,N Diethyl-1,4 Phenylenediamine Sulfate (DP D) .   This waste requires a sanitary sewer for disposal.   80% of the flow (92 gal/day) goes out the small bypass tee that branches off the inlet and goes to the drain.   Re-route the flow from the tee so it gets reintroduced into the process or to a regular drain (doesn't need to be sanitary sewer).  Also, customers have pinched off the tee line using Catalog Number/ Order Code 5449100 to eliminate the 92 gal/day although this increases the retention time in the pipe - an issue if you have a dirty pipe.
