Question
The colorimetric sulfide method does not have sample preservation steps. Why not?
Summary
Sample preservation steps for colorimetric sulfide method
Answer
Sulfide is extremely volatile, so immediate testing is recommended.  If the samples must be preserved, users can add 4 drops of 2M zinc acetate to 100mL sample, adjust the pH to >9 with 6M NaOH, then cool to 6 degrees C.
