Question
Are there instructions for using the ezGGA Single Dose BOD Standard?
Summary
Instructions for using the ezGGA Single Dose BOD Standard
Answer
The instruction sheet for using the ez GGA - No Pipette GGA, Single Dose BOD Standard, pk/20, 2-mL ampules (Product # 2514420) can be found on the Hach website.

This standard is made from 450 mg/L of Glucose and Glutamic Acid (GGA), and as a result, is three times more concentrated than the GGA standard referenced in Standard Methods. Standard Methods uses 6 mL of standard, while only 2 mL of the ez GGA standard are used in the Hach procedures (as a result, the two procedures are equivalent).

There is a statement in the instruction sheet that references a 50x dilution. This 50x dilution is referring to the dilution of the 150 mg/L GGA standard referenced in Standard Methods to a final concentration of 3 mg/L GGA, once the volume has been brought to 300 mL (the ez GGA will also be diluted to 3 mg/L GGA once the final 300 mL volume is reached).

A final Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) result of 198 +/- 30.5 mg/L should be obtained.
