Can formazin standards be used to calibrate for TSS?
TSS sc and Suspended Solids Calibration
No. The formazin standards are used for turbidity calibration only. Suspended solids calibration must be done using a gravimetric analysis in order to be accurate. The gravimetric analysis is a lab method that determines the exact amount of suspended solids in the process water. Methods 8158 and 8164 are gravimetric methods that are US EPA accepted.
