Question
Why can't termination boxes be used with the sc1000 controllers?
Summary
sc1000 Controller and Wiring
Answer
The sc1000 communicates with the probes through a form of Modbus; the sc1000 will send out messages and wait for responses from the probes. Improper termination, poor conductance, and increased resistance from the termination box can cause delays in the probe response. This results in a cascade effect that slows the response from all other probes resulting in communication drop outs. This is not a problem with the sc200 due to the communications being limited to only two probes. A better solution with the sc1000 controller is to use the digital extension cables with larger conduit to accommodate the plugs rather than using the termination boxes and bulk cable.
