Question
Does hardness interfere with the Free Ammonia Chemkey® reagent?
Summary
High Hardness interference in Free Ammonia
Answer
The Free Ammonia Chemkey® reagent (Product # 9429500) can tolerate at least 1000 mg/L Calcium Hardness as Ca2+ (which is equivalent to 2400 mg/L Ca2+ Hardness as CaCO3). Magnesium Hardness can be more problematic and levels above 250 mg/L Mg2+(which is equivalent to 1000 mg/L Mg2+ as CaCO3) may interfere.
