Question
How are the Glass Fiber Filters, Preweighed for Standard Methods TSS Procedure prepared?
Summary
Preweighed filter paper preparation
Answer
Each Pre-Weighed Total Suspended Solids (TSS) Filter consists of 1.5 μm binder-free, glass microfiber filters which have been vacuum rinsed three times with 20 mL aliquots of reagent grade water, dried at 105°C for at least one hour, desiccated to room temperature, weighed to the nearest 0.1 mg and then placed in an aluminum pan with an affixed, heat resistant bar code label preprinted with filter ID number and the filter weight.

All washing, drying, desiccating, and weighing are done in accordance with Standard Methods 2540 D and the filters are ready to use out of the box. The pretreatment of these filters cuts labor costs and TSS analysis time in half.

Each box of pre-weighed filters will contain a Certificate of Conformity indicating strict adherence to Standard Methods 2540 D specifications.
