Question
Is it possible to test the buffering capacity of DPD reagent?
Summary
Buffering capacity of DPD
Answer
Provided below are general guidelines for testing the buffering capacity of DPD chemistry. It would be recommended to check with a local regulator to determine exactly the steps that they are requiring for this test and how to report the results.

Add the DPD reagent to deionized water and measure the pH, this result indicates the pH that the buffer in the DPD is trying to achieve. Next, test the pH of the sample before and after the addition of the DPD reagent to determine if the buffer in the chemistry is able to adjust the pH to the desired point. This will indicate if the sample needs pH adjustment. Result = 6.15 pH (pH was 5.68 before adding DPD pillow).
