Question
Does the DR 3900 spectrophotometer lid need to be closed during a measurement?
Summary
Closing the lid when taking a DR 3900 measurement
Answer
Closing the lid is not required to take a program measurement using the DR 3900 spectrophotometer, under standard lab lighting conditions.

Many customers are able to use the 25 mL square glass sample cells without any problems.

When using Test 'N Tube and TNTplus™ chemistries, the lid cannot not be closed and the light shield should be in place.

However, when running the 'Wavelength Scan' option on the instrument, the lid must be closed. The 25 mL sample cell, TNTplus™, and Test 'N Tube  options cannot be used for this feature.
