Why does the HQD meter say "Connect a Probe" or "Probe not supported" when there is one connected?

HQd meter displays a "connect a probe" or "probe not supported".
Answer
Try disconnecting and reconnecting the probe. Make sure there are no damaged or corroded pins. Next, try moving the probe to the other connector (HQ40d and HQ440d meters only) or trying different probes on the meter to determine whether the problem lies within the meter or the probe.

Also, make sure the meter firmware is the most recent version. Instructions for updating firmware can be found here. The meter will display the current firmware version if it is powered on with no probes attached.
