Question
How do I calculate SUVA (specific ultraviolet absorbance) from a UV-254 measurement?
Summary
Calculate SUVA (specific ultraviolet absorbance) from UV-254 measurement
Answer
SUVA is a calculated parameter found by dividing a sample's UV-254 value (in cm-1) by the DOC (dissolved organic carbon, in mg/L), and then multiplying by 100.

UV-254 can be measured by following the organic constituents procedure using the DR6000 Spectrophotometer. DOC can be measured by filtering a sample through a 0.45 micron filter and analyzing the filtrate for TOC.
