Question
What is the recommended chemistry for measuring nitrogen, ammonia in seawater samples?
Summary
Measuring nitrogen, ammonia in seawater samples
Answer
Each nitrogen, ammonia method has an interference section that lists interfering substances. Many of the methods will list seawater or chloride as an interference. Listed below are seawater sample recommendations:

Nitrogen, Ammonia Salicylate Methods 8155, 10023, and 10031 are acceptable for seawater samples.
Nitrogen, Ammonia Nessler Method 8038 recommends distillation for seawater samples.
Nitrogen, Ammonia TNTplus Methods 10205 lists chloride over 1000 mg/L as an interference and recommends distillation for seawater samples.
